In addition to aiding the patients during a radiation treatment, a radiation therapist may explain treatment plans and answer any question the patient or family member may have. They will also need to take the proper precautions to protect themselves and the patient from overexposure to radiation.

Radiation therapists also need to check on the patient to ensure there are no unusual reactions to the radiation treatment and they will keep an updated chart of the records of treatment.
