Physicians claim the #1 spot on the list of top healthcare jobs (and #3 in the list of top 100 careers overall) with its high median salary topping over $221K a year. The job outlook is 14% and the sheer number of new job openings for physicians between 2014 and 2024 is massive at 99,300. The only downside to this career is that the educational requirements are high; medical school is a requisite which will add 4 years and significant expenses to your education.

Dentists take the #2 spot with a high salary, high job outlook, and fairly high number of new job openings through 2024. However, once again, extensive education is a requirement for this career.

Nurse practitioners claim the #3 spot with a salary nearing 6-figures, and a high job outlook of 35%. In addition, the typical education for nurse practitioners is only a Master’s degree which makes this career appealing to many.
